Applicant comments:
There are currently no VHF DMR repeaters which serve our area of the North East. Our group comprises a blend of maker/electronics and amateur radio enthusiasts for which DMR provides an ideal balance of data processing together with more classical RF. We currently host a UHF DMR repeater (GB7XY), which covers the central area of Newcastle where we are attracting an increased interest from the academic / student communities. Adding a 2m repeater should allow that community to expand to marginal areas of the wider metro area which is blocked to UHF by the nature of the Newcastle terrain.
The applicant has given the following description of intended coverage:
The aim of the repeater is to provide good VHF DMR coverage for the City of Newcastle Upon Tyne and surrounding area. The coverage predictions we have generated (attached) suggest this site is well placed to do this, located very centrally in the city at
